XM Discover API: Import API Single Record Error Responses
Note: We strongly recommend using XM Discover Link connector instead of the Import API.
The following table identifies some of the error codes and messages that Import API returns for single record requests.
| HTTP Status Code | Message | Description |

| 200 | Attribute with name <attribute name> is not defined in CMP Admin. | A structured attribute is defined in the request, but not in the Designer project. Such attributes are skipped. |
| 200 | An attribute marked as ID was not found. An ID will be generated. | A natural ID is not specified, so it will be generated automatically. |
| 400 | Process or stage flag should be set true to proceed the request. | Both process and stage flags cannot be set to false at the same time. Refer to the Possible Combinations of save, process, and stage Flags section. |
| 400 | Records can not be null or empty for the upload request. | The records section cannot be empty or missing. |
| 400 | Incorrect project name and project id. | Either the projectName or projectId is invalid. |
| 400 | Record fields should have defined attributes. Error field name = <attribute name>. | A field in the records section does not have a corresponding definition in the attributes section. |
| 400 | Model name <modelName> not found for the specified project. Provide a valid model name. | The modelName is invalid. |
| 400 | Attribute with name <attribute name> defined as <type A> type, but value passed is <type B>. | Attribute value does not match its type. |
| 400 | Value of attribute SOURCE cannot be null. Please provide value. | An attribute mapped to SOURCE cannot be set to null. |
| 400 | The document_date attribute must have a date value. Remove the document_date attribute to default to the current date. | An attribute mapped to DOC_DATE cannot be set to null. |
| 400 | Value of attribute <attribute name> cannot be null. Please provide value. | A regular TEXT attribute cannot be set to null. To pass an empty TEXT value, simply omit it in the records section or set it to an empty string (""). |
| 500 | Cannot process request: empty String. | A NUMERIC attribute cannot be set to an empty string. To pass an empty NUMERIC value, simply omit it in the records section or set it to null. |
| 400 | Duplicate document rejected - Natural ID: <id>. | A document with the same natural ID already exists in the project. |
| 401 | Unauthorized | Authentication failed. |
| 403 | Forbidden | Authenticated user doesn't have permission to import records. |
| 500 | Internal Server Error | Indicates any server-side problem. |
